It all started in 1948 with one family’s vision to better the agricultural industry in Tasmania. Today, one-third of our 50 employees are second-, third- and fourth-generation family members that still provide quality landscaping supplies to locals like you.
1944 | Artie and Jean Beams purchased the property at Flowery Gully Road |
1945-46 | Lime Kiln built to burn Lime for use in local building industry |
1948 | KB 5 truck purchased. First load of Burnt Lime delivered |
Late 1950s | Limestone - started delivering to Comalco at Bell Bay carted via Launceston First crusher, 2A Jacques Hammermill, installed to crush agricultural lime |
1965 | Major crusher installed to crush aglime and crushed metals for Comalco and APPM |
1968 | May 18th - Batman Bridge opened northern end of Tamar River. Trip to Bell Bay now much shorter, no longer need to go through Launceston |
Late 1960s | Purchased first loaders - before that a tractor loader was used |
1972 | April - Logging operations commenced |
1980 | April 6th - Artie Beams passed away suddenly |
Early 1980s | Started delivering Limestone to TEMCO at Bell Bay Purchased first rock breaker |
1992 | Started quarrying Dolomite rock at leased property at Blackwood Creek Started delivering Dolomite to TEMCO at Bell Bay Started delivering Ironstone to TEMCO at Bell Bay Started delivering Iron Ore to TEMCO at Bell Bay |
1993 | June 28th - Jean Beams passed away |
2019 | Spreading part of business sold to Grand-daughter of Artie & Jean, Karen & Marcus Plapp - Tas-Spread and Contracting |
Mid 2021 | Liberty GFG took over TEMCO South 32 |
Jul 2023 | Landscaping business sold to Grand-daughter of Artie & Jean, Tanya and Steve Ellis - Westgate Landscaping and Building |
